Cavendish University hosts 2nd International Public Health Conference



In collaboration with the African Institute of Public Health Professionals (AIPHP), Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) organised a very successful International Public Health conference held at Hotel Africana from 26th – 28th November, 2019.

The conference which was opened by the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine, was dubbed, ‘Uganda 2019’ having followed the session that took place in Nairobi, Kenya the previous year. It attracted a cross-section of high level and very senior academics and public health practitioners from Nigeria, Ghana, USA, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and Somalia.

Under the theme “Resources development and management for effective delivery of public health services in Africa,” the forum explored a continuum of emerging and re-emerging issues in public health, both locally and internationally with a view of contributing to disease burden reduction, promotion of life, restoring of health and strengthening of health research with an impact on Sustainable Development Goals and Uganda’s Vision 2040.

Over 100 public health professionals, students and staff members attended the event which registered the induction of the highest number of institute fellows among whom was Mr. Kabanda Richard, the Commissioner for Health services in charge of Health promotions. It was a very colourful conference that enabled vibrant and relevant scholarly discourse for all in attendance.
