Cavendish University Uganda celebrates the Class of 2020 in a Scientific & Virtual Graduation Ceremony

As the World grapples with the unexpected COVID19 crisis, leaving many vulnerable to the insurmountable threat posed by the Corona Virus, Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) staying true to its student centric values and in the interest of promoting Public Health will celebrate the class of 2020 with a Scientific and Virtual Graduation Ceremony – the first of its kind in the country on Thursday 28th May, 2020 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Commonwealth Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Cavendish University will hold this scientific and virtual graduation as a means of enabling our highly deserving students to celebrate their academic success as well as obtain their academic papers so that they can pursue their dreams, secure their jobs, obtain promotions and ensure job security at their workplaces or pursue further education and make their contribution to the world.

“CUU will therefore present to the world a total of 809 graduates who are well trained, highly skilled and intellectually grounded to add value in terms of providing excellent services and crafting workable solutions to the social and development challenges facing humanity today and in the future,” remarked the Vice Chancellor, Prof John Mugisha.

In order to fulfill all students’ aspirations, all 2020 graduates and their parents shall be invited to the 10th physical Graduation Ceremony in March, 2021 to adorn the gown, “walk the graduation walk”, and host parties if they so wish.

Since the outbreak of the novel Corona Virus that led to the shutdown of Universities and other education institutions in the country, CUU has demonstrated the highest degree of being tech savvy by leveraging technology to conduct classes through online platforms such as Zoom, WebEx, Google Meet and many more. This has set it apart from various institutions within the country and the Virtual Graduation will therefore create a lasting impression by changing the educational landscape and dynamics of Academia in Uganda.

The Event will be officiated by H.E. Benjamin Mkapa, the former President of the Republic of Tanzania who is also the Chancellor of the University, Rt. Hon Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga as Guest of Honour and the immediate former Commissioner General of the Uganda Revenue Authority, Ms. Doris Akol as the Commencement Speaker.
