In a bid to fulfil the University Mission and in pursuit of offering accessible quality education, Cavendish University Uganda (CUU) has today awarded 25 full scholarships to successful applicants for the 2020 August Intake. The scholarships are awarded based on academic quality, leadership and exemplary performance orientation and shall cover up to 100% tuition and functional fees.

This year, a total of 60 scholarships including two Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga Scholarship Awards have been awarded and CUU will continue to build on that as it responds to the needs, lifestyles and interests of our students in line with our academic model.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Cavendish University Uganda, Dr. Olive Sabiiti remarked that despite the outbreak of the novel corona virus that has disrupted many institutions’ functionality, CUU is still committed to giving to the community. She further expounded that before the pandemic, CUU had acquired a Learning Platform three years earlier in 2017 and that opportunity benefits the prepared.

“We are a University of many firsts, right from holding the first virtual graduation in Uganda to becoming one of the first universities to be permitted to teach online by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).” Dr. Olive stated.

She then informed the scholarship awardees that they have joined a University that was voted “the best private university” at the 2019 consumers’ choice awards, one with vibrant networks such as the current President of the Uganda Law Society, Ms. Pheona Wall, among others.

Cavendish University has awarded close to 200 scholarships since conception of the scheme and its 1st batch of scholarship students graduated virtually in May 2020. Awardees will be subjected to student support systems, a mentoring camp, among other benefits.

At the same press conference, the Executive Director of CUU announced that the University will hold a Memorial mass for its late Chancellor, H. E. Benjamin Mkapa, who was also the 3rd President of the United Republic of Tanzania on 30th September, 2020 at Nsambya Catholic Parish at 10 AM to honour his memory. Among the invited guests is the President of the United Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Museveni who has been invited to preside over the function as the Chief Guest.

The Academic Registrar, Mr. Amos Olal-Odur communicated that the August Intake had commenced on 21st September, 2020 and that the University is still open for admissions.
